Verified Digital Twins are intended to provide brands with scalable ecommerce production, round-the-clock usability, consistency in visual output, and reduced environmental impact while maintaining the model’s identity and consent. Nijs said the approach aims to give brands efficiency “without sacrificing authenticity.”

“AI is here to stay. It will not replace real people. It will become another essential tool, the way Photoshop once did,” said Knuts.

From August 2026, brands operating in the European Union will be required to disclose when AI has been used in imagery. BetterStudio and Jackie Lee have developed a Verified Label intended to establish standards for ethical Digital Twin production, including consent, identity protection, compensation, usage traceability, and compliance with transparency requirements.

In the episode, Knuts and Nijs discuss how AI is expected to streamline high-volume content creation while allowing human models to focus on creative and premium campaign work. Nijs emphasized the importance of protecting individual identity as AI tools expand across the fashion sector.

“Brands need efficiency, but not at the cost of authenticity. Digital Twins deliver both: speed for production, and protection for the human behind the model,” said Nijs.

The company noted that Digital Twin technology is intended to provide new opportunities for models, agencies, and brands as demand for content expands, while consumers are expected to benefit from increased transparency.
